Cancer Support Swap

I think this is an amazing swap Idea. I am very much a newbie, but I know only too well the pain and stress cancer brings to a family. I just lost my dad in March after a long battle with lung and brain cancer. I'm praying for your dad.

Your daddy is in my prayers. I'm terminally ill with cancer so you can only imagine how very much I appreciate this swap!

Seexlorvexrun and CheryILaVon thank you so much! I had no idea what kind of cancer community there was until I was a part of it. I have always supported breast cancer, but now that my dad (someone very close to me) is going thru it, I am getting "introduced" to everything.

Seex you have my condolences for the passing of your father. I hope it never comes to that for my dad's cancer.

This will be for my grandma - she has lung cancer. She is also diabetic, so no candies please! Anything like a hat, scarf, fuzzy socks, or a book to read while at the doctor's office... or really anything of the sort :)

Update on my dad: he is doing very well! He's home now and healing very nicely! He won't be able to get his stitches out for two weeks and won't be able to go back to work for at least 6 more weeks, but he is home and doing fine...even if driving my mom nuts. LOL

oh I am SO glad to hear that! I've been thinking about you and your family. It's good to know that it was a successful surgery. Things will get better from here :) Stay positive and strong!

Yay, I am so happy your dad is home and recovering. This swap will be for my sister, we lost our parents within a year from each other, my mom was gone 1 year on Oct. 14th, we found out in Feb of this year that my sister has Muliple Maloma, it is a cancer that attaches itself to your bones and causes them to break. We found this out only a few months after my mom passing and none of us were healed enough to enter into another heartache. My sister was at a doctors apt. and her arm broke while sitting and talking to the doc. They flew her to the nearest big hospital and found tumors all over her the most were on her skull and during the stay in the hospital her shoulder broke (for the second time) and they found her to be in the 3rd. stage, the 4th. stage is death. She was also over half low on blood and was given blood transfusion almost immediatly. She was home after spending several weeks in intensive care. She came home and re-broke her arm from falling and started chemo. She is now in remission by the glory of God and to the doc's suprise, they were sure she would not make it long. She did well on her chemo, not even any hair loss except for her legs (which thrilled her, lol) She has just started getting sick again in the last couple of weeks and we found out it is her heart which is what our parents died of. She would really love something and would gladly send it to her from the person that sent it to me or would give you her address she would really love that. She is really wanting our mom right now to go through this with her and is having a hard time with her not being here through this. I know this was a long story, but just wanted to let all know that my heart goes out to you all and would love to join this swap. I think if any of you want I would love to send letters to each others friends or family with cancer, or maybe a postcard or card. I know my sister would love it and it may just stop her crying so much and get her wanting to be healthy again. Just an idea, PM me if anyone is interested.

This is for my mom - she's only been dealing with breast cancer for the last 3 weeks, had surgery a week and a half ago and today gets a PET scan to see if its spread beyond the breast. Every Drs visit gives us worse news. I am making her a blanket out of sock yarn to kind of chronicle our journey - I hope to give it to her when she's told she's in remission. She reads a lot, likes bath schtuff, warm socks (she's always been a person who gets cold easily), and since she'll lose her hair to chemo soon, she'll need warm, soft hats, too. I plan to make her some, but she likes to match, LOL! This is the third time in my life that I have had to deal with potentially losing my mom, the first I was 9 and she had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured, the second, I was 19 and she got a bad strain of pneumonia, and now at 32 from breast cancer. My mom is too young to die of this (she's 54), and I need my children to remember her.

This is the reason I opened this swap, for us to be able to talk about what we are going through. I have a feeling I will be sending out much more gifts then I was planning on for this swap! My heart goes out to all your families. I think sending postcards or words of hope is a great idea. i will be contacting you each so I can get your address and send something to each of you.

My Hubby is surrving Stage 4 Colonm Cancer. I just finished up some swaps and wanted to fill my dashboard again. So glad I stopped by this one. Navy Blue is the color for Colon Cancer. He loves to fly and regualr fish. I just stared this blog http://bagsforbrent.blogspot.com/ please cut and past it and come check it out. This swap would be for him. He loves to watch ASU football with our eldest son. He loves hard cadies ( from being on so much chemo) And M&M's We are Christians so he likes reading Christian base books. My hubby is losing his battle with Stage IV rectal cancer. You can go to my flickr account or my blog. My flickr has all the hats he got. I started a chemo hat campaign for him and he wore a different hat each time. He has a gazillion of them. HA HA...He is currently at home on Hospice. They have only given him days to live and I am waiting for supportive care nurses to come today. I am so glad to have this group and I wish each and every one of us the best. Whether you are a cancer patient, a survivor, or a loved one, it is hard. The best advice I can give , which I don't do myself, is take care of you, so you can take care of them...Cancer to us has been a blessing as it made us appreciate each other so much more and we noticed things that we would have missed. Cherish each moment and memory.

does anyone know of a website where we can see all the different awareness ribbon colors that represent each type of cancer.....like pink is for breast cancer?
