Appalachian Trail ATCs

My son will begin a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail (AT) on March 21, 2009 (all 2,176 miles of it). He will hike from Springer Mountain, GA, to the peak of Mount Katahdin, ME in about six months. In honor of his commitment, I would like to have an AT ATC Swap.

ATC description: Check the topics listed below or choose one of your own. Illustrate it on your ATCs any way and with any media you choose. Cleverness and humor are encouraged. Think about long distance hiking and camping for general ideas. Check out the following sites for more ideas:

Possible topics:

• food
• tents
• gear
• trails
• states on trail (GA, NC, TN, VA, WV, MD, PA, NJ, NY, CT, MA, NH, VT, ME)
• national, state parks on the AT (Smoky Mountain NP, Shenandoah NP, Baxter SP, etc.)
• trail terms (lean-to, white blaze, shelter, trail name, privy, elevation, etc.)
• Caveman (his trail name)

You will make two ATCs for each of two partners for a total of four ATCs.
