Description:

A full moon can be many things - beautiful, fear filled, awe inspiring...

Did you know that there are names for each full moon? In this swap you'll have one partner and make one 4x4 piece representing one of the full moons. On the back of your 4x4 you'll include your Swap-bot name and the name for the moon you've chosen to represent.

What images come to mind when you hear names like Thunder Moon, Stawberry Moon, Chaste Moon and Fish Moon? Below are a few links to full moon names. If you know other names feel free to use them -- be sure to note the moon name you used on the back of your 4x4.

What's a 4x4? It's a square piece of art that measures 4 inches by 4 inches. You can use any sturdy backing material -- think at least the thickness of a playing card. How do you decorate it? Paint, ink or pencil, collage, fabric, glue on bits and pieces from found objects...it's up to you. The end result should be something you'd enjoy hanging on your wall -- so work with care and make a nice effort. Go on line and look for Art Squared or 4x4.

This is an international swap. Before signing up, please make sure you are willing to send outside your home country.

Participants must have a Swap-bot rating of at least 4 to join.

New Swap-bot members should complete their profile, give a link to photographs of their art/craft (Flickr, Photobucket, a blog, etc.) and list their swapping experience in the comments below. Anyone without a profile, photos and no details on prior swapping will be removed from this trade before partners are assigned.

I\'m new but I\'ll have ratings by the time this starts. Also I am getting my photo place set up - deciding which is best - I have a Flickr but it is \"goofed\" up so I\'ll get back to you on that. I have been professionally blogging for awhile and am just setting up a personal blog so it is pretty empty but it is at http://windchimes.vox.com I\'ll have about 8 swaps done by the time this one is sent out - I have done lots of swaps/secret pals things elsewhere though. I am really looking forward to this and I\'ll have it all set up by the sign-up date. :)

Hi All, I was intrigued by this swap and then even more excited when I found this web-site of moon names.. http://home.hiwaay.net/~krcool/Astro/moon/moonnames.htm Very cool...I think I can do a whole book of moons....

Susi 02/23/2007 #

OOOOHHHHH... I am liking this one a lot... at first I wasn't sure, but my mind is racing now though! I hope I have the info needed in my profile... if not please let me know what else I need. Thaks! susi

Susi 02/25/2007 #

question, do we represent the moon as it\'s name or make the page to go along with the moon? does that question make sense? susi

Coffeelatte 02/26/2007 #

Susi - I think you could do either one. Make a picture showing the moon and give the moon that \"personality\", or show a moon surrounded by images taht represent the moon\'s name. Is that what you were asking?

As an example, I really want to do a \"Fish Moon\" because I am a Pisces. I am thinking that the moon will be a circle made out for two fish (sort of like the Pisces astrological symbol) or I could surround the full moon with lots of fish-y images that I like: an ocean or stream, koi fish, people catching fish in a net...

Basically yes... you've clarified it better for me! thanks! susi

Had a request to extend the sign-up and move out the send by date, which I have done. Hope that is OK with everyone!

Send by April 7th...instead of 1st.

Coffeelatte 03/ 8/2007 #

Sorry for the delay in assigning partners -- Swapbot kept dropping me out of the system this morning.

Partners are now assigned. You need to mail your completed 4x4 by April 7th. If you are delayed for any reason, please notify me and your swap partner.

If you have photos of your finished moons, I'd love to see them!

dreamstealer 03/12/2007 #

Samantha, your 4x4 Fish Moon is on the way....

Coffeelatte 03/15/2007 #

Lucky Samantha...I would love a fish moon...hope you post some photos when it gets to you!

Windchimes 03/24/2007 #

Okay, my personal blog and Flickr accounts are all straighted out. Keep in mind they are new so not a lot of content:

http://www.windchimesanddragonflies.com for the blog and http://www.flickr.com/photos/knittingwillows/

I wish I had taken photos of everything I have done but I didn't have a decent camera until recently and I still haven't the foggiest of how to use it. My daughter has to take the pictures for me and get them on the computer. I swear these kids are born with a technological gene we were never given!

FarStarr 04/ 1/2007 #

Windchimes, Your moon 4x4 is on it's way!

Windchimes 04/ 3/2007 #

How exciting! I can hardly wait to see it FarStarr!! Mine is being mailed on Friday - I don't drive and I have on Friday help to get me here and there - primarily the post office. Mine will go out then. I don't want to say who it is to yet. But if anyone is nervous, I'll let you know if you are my partner so you don't worry.

Susi 04/ 5/2007 #

I have a suggestion... when you get your envys ready, write the name of the swap on the OUTSIDE of the evelope, as well as the inside, makes things easier to help do rating! I keep envelopes, and sometimes I don't remeber who sent what. I should probably find a system to do this, but I know that when I write the name and the DATE it's due (I'm trying to do that now) it helps alot! susi

dolphingirl 04/ 6/2007 #

Thank you Dreamstealer for the lovely fish moon piece. It is really cool!

Coffeelatte 04/ 8/2007 #

It's the day after our final send date, and I've sent messages to three of you as you show "Not Sent", but I think at least two of you may have just forgotten to update that field.

If you have not sent, please contact both me and your partner with an update on when you will be mailing out.

My partner's moon went out yesterday, 2nd day delivery.

I hope you have all enjoyed this swap and that we'll see some pictures of great moons. I finally have my digital camera back and hope to download (or upload?) photos today of the moon I made.
