Description:

I am new to quilting and I\\'m sure there are others out there like me. Here\\'s a very simple swap to get us started. All fabric lover\\'s have a stash. When we cut into our fabrics, there\\'s always bits left over that we can\\'t bear to throw away. For this swap, you will send your partner twelve 6\\" square pieces of fabric.

Please list in the comments section and your profile any color(s) you would like to receive as well as those you\\'d prefer not to get. We will be swapping 100% COTTON fabrics only. Please no synthetics or blends.

For this swap, you will receive 2 partners. It is an international swap since the envelopes you mail will be fairly light.

I\'m sure we all have scraps in our stash, so please make sure that you use atleast six different fabrics when cutting your squares.

Please wait until you get your partners to prepare your package so you can match colors. You will have two weeks after the close of this swap to do this.

I have no tolerance for slackers and will delete anyone that has negative feedback. A late swap is one thing but more than one no send is another :)

I would love to get squares that were pink or blue. I'm going to start a quilt for my son and daughter and those are the colors I'm working with.

Hey, this is a great idea. I have some info about my color preferences in my profile, so I won\'t repeat them here. And it would be great if you guys would be sure your color preferences are in your profile, too, because if we get a lot of participants, there could be an awful lot of messages to wade through to see if you partner posted something here. It\'s just a suggestion, of course, but I do think it\'s easier if you put that kind of information there.

Thanks for hosting this, igobylorib, it\'s a very good idea.

yes to light pinks, black, aqua, red, light green, light blue and light yellow

no to brown, orange, purple, or neon colors Thanks!

I am open to ANY cotton quilting fabrics except pinky-girly florals. Please only send selections from your stash (no need to go shopping), I think that it is much more interesting that way. I\'m sure to be inspired by interesting new fabrics that I may not have selected myself, and to be challenged outside of my fabric comfort zone. Fun!

igobylorib 02/19/2007 #

Sharon, great idea about adding the color preferences to your profile. I\'m going to do that as well.

Cathy, I\'m going to put in the swap description that we are swapping cotton fabrics only since that is what most quilters lean towards :)

YES please: blacks, reds, greys, whites, blues, browns, oranges, greens...

NO thanks: pink, purple, neon colors...

Thanks!!!

I would really love white background fabric. I also like small geometric fifties type prints.

alright sign me up! It\'s spring and while it\'s time to clean out my stash it\'s also a time to refresh. i\'ve listed in my profile the fabrics that i love and i\'ll add here some colors that i\'m into; earthy browns&greens, i\'m open to some pinks though not crazy about hot or neon pinks, NO purples,..listing colors is difficult so maybe just check out my flickr account and get a sense of what i like.

This is great,i have a lot of cute print fabrics like Michael Millers etc.

I would like to recieve bright colors and cute prints like polkadots, stripes, hearts etc.

I can't wait! I am slowly working on a quilt that has many different patterns of small scale flower designs. I have some vintage and some new fabrics. So anything like that would be much appreciated. I'm not crazy about neon colors. Anything with reds, yellows, blues, brown, green (earth colors in general) are great. I also like the repro vintage patterns I see everywhere - like Michael Miller, etc. Toiles, paisleys, and damask patterns can all be fun.

Awesome, I have the biggest chest full of scrap fabric (ranging from 6\" squares to a 2 yards) that I\'ve gotten kind of bored with so I\'m thrilled to share some!

I\'m pretty open to anything as long as it\'s not super cutsey. I.e. no cartoon characters, bunnies, super sweet florals, etc. I love patterns of all sorts though, including florals! Just as long as they\'re not too \"cute.\"

igobylorib 02/25/2007 #

Partners have been assigned so please make sure that you either post a comment or add to your profile your likes and dislikes for this swap. Otherwise you might get fabrics you don't care for :)

raesha 02/25/2007 #

I love purple, green, blue, brown, pink. I love vintage and reproduction prints. I don\'t like anything cutesy, or super bright.

suzyinblue 02/25/2007 #

i love pastel stripes and polka dots. i like paterns. i like most colors, but in delicate, pastel tones.

exciting!

threechickies 02/26/2007 #

I seem to be going after sixties-style prints, stripes, and little prints like 30s and 40s reproductions. Love all colors except 80s-type neons

toryam 03/15/2007 #

Amanda - Hi! Thank you for the nice collection of squares and the cute pens! I love them all (you obviously checked my profile, lol) but my FAVORITES were the red batik and the green/tan/gold/grey stylized 'flower' print. Thank you again and have a great day!

SharonP 03/16/2007 #

I just got a packet from Amanda too, and I agree, Amanda must check profiles -- I'm impressed you managed to touch on both my preference for nature themes and architecture! And the gel pens are a thoughtful extra.

Thanks!
