I'm addicted to Postsecret (http://www.postsecret.com) where people send in their secrets on a postcard. It amazes me how much information they are able to impart with a well chosen image and a few words. I'd love to play with that format to do something similar. What I propose is that this be an ongoing swap. Every couple of weeks a new topic is posted and everyone makes a postcard that is somehow related to that topic. It can be a literal answer to the prompt or something symbolic that only you understand. You don't have to participate in every topic and I'm open to ideas for new topics. The rules are simple. We'll start with 2 partners, 1 card each (2 cards total). If this goes well, I'd like to move it up to 3 or 4 people because... well, frankly it's because I'm nosey and I want to see how everyone answers the questions. The cards should be handmade, but how you make them is entirely up to you. Any and all art forms are acceptable. Some ideas are digital art, collage, stamping, photo cards, fabric, or even a combination of all of the above. You can either duplicate the same card or make entirely different cards for both partners. I'd prefer you send your PCs through the mail naked (that is, mail them as they are without an envelope), but you don't have to. Please, put your username and swap name on the card somewhere so your partner can rate you. I feel like since we're all adults no subject should be taboo, but it's important to take your partner's feelings into account before you send them something that's potentially offensive (use your best judgement here, but anything dealing with sexuality, religion, or politics is worth checking into for sure). This swap will be international and open to everyone, although I do reserve the right to ban anyone who seems suspicious. For the first topic, since this was inspired by Postsecret, how about you share a secret. It can be funny, serious, whatever you feel like. |
