This April is the 20th anniversary of National Poetry Month in the US. The celebration was started by the Academy of American Poets in 1996 to encourage the reading of poetry and increase the support for poets and poetry. On the website for National Poetry Month there is a list of 30 ways to celebrate in April. Some of the options are reading a poem every day, memorizing a poem, buying a book of poetry, writing a poem on the sidewalk in chalk, or subscribing to a poetry publication. Here is the list: 30 Way to Celebrate National Poetry Month For this swap, pick at least one thing from the list to do this April to celebrate. You can chose to do more than one thing or you could just do the one. Send your partner a letter describing what your choice, what you did, and what you thought about the exercise. (Will you continue to read poetry every day? Will you go to open mic night on a regular basis? Will you keep a poem in your pocket from now on?) In Summary:
