Description:

I'm a connoisseur of crap. Are you? Because if you are, and you live in the US (sorry my international friends,) this is the swap for you...and if you aren't, welllllllllll, it STILL may be the swap for you.

Here's the dealio....get yourself a small flat rate box for free from the post office. You know, the one that an old VHS tape would fit in? (If you don't know what a VHS tape is, go google it...and never admit you did that,) NOW... go dig into your stash of crap...ahem, GOODIES...and fill that box. Don't just put stuff in it, STUFF it so full you need to put your foot on it then lay on the bed to squish it down to close it up (you know the way you do your skinny jeans when you ate a pint of rocky road and you can't quite get the zipper up...or the way you do the suitcase when you just HAD to add the extra outfit, AND shoes, AND accessories at the last minute.)

Did you close it up yet? No? Good. Because here's the first catch...it can't all be paper stuff. That's right. You have to include non papery goodness too, cause I know you've got some. Non papery goodness might include a pen, or cool paperclips, old fridge magnets, junk jewelry, buttons, wooden puzzle pieces, heck, a piece of plastic fruit...you just never know til you dig what you'll find WAY down in that stash you have...at least if your stash(es) are like my stash(es) that is.

Ready? Ok, ...wait, what was that question from the back row? Why, yes! I did mention the FIRST catch a minute ago...so there IS a second catch! You k ow how you stuffed that box full? Well, you don't actually have to use that box. That's right folks. Did you know that you can fit 3-4 times as much into a flat rate polybag envelope and that it's LESS expensive to mail? Yeppers. You can use a flat rate poly envie if you'd like, so that you can cram even more stuffs in there if you'd like. Or if you're just thrifty.

Two catches, is that all woman you ask? Well, umm, nope. There's one more....but you're gonna like it! Third catch is this. When you get your swap in the mail, and finish marveling at all the new CRAP, ahem...GOODIES, I mean, goodies....then turn around and make something with it. Yes I did! This is gonna be a two parter folks! Part one is this swap. Part two if you should choose to accept the mission, is to make something using what you've gotten to send to you partner in the next swap. That swap is gonna be posted soon, and it will be called creatively enough, PART TWO. Like it? I knew you would!

Recap: Fill a flat rate box or polybag with stash stuff, including at least a couple non paper items, mail off to your partner.

*Optional: If you feel inspired, sign up for part 2 and make something for your partner you receive in that swap from what you've received from your partner in this swap.

GOT IT? Any questions.....shoot me a message, cause I answer faster that way. Looking forward to it guys and gals!

Oh, and y'all...that's not my picture, I wish my crafting stuff was that organized, snort! Image was found on google as I'm too ashamed to share my own...double snort snort

HeeHeeeee... you are SO entertaining that I cant help myself and must sign up for both swaps (part 1 and two) GREAT idea!! I will have to get one of those polybags, thats so cool that we can send more and pay less! I have TOO much in my stash. Its so bad that it takes me hours to find things I need,...so, time to give away some of my stash :)

PART TWO: Ive always wanted to see what people make with what they get from other peoples stashes, and it makes it worth while, instead of just collecting more stuff! this is far more creative than the usual destash swaps... thank you for hosting!!

I went to the PO and the clerk said the poly-bag envelopes are not flat rate but the cardboard ones are, up to 13 ounces, even though the envelope says right on it up to 4 pounds!!!...it's so confusing with them sometimes. So I got the cardboard envelope...

Babsmomof5 01/14/2016 #

Hmmmm, @bigmamabird I'll have to check then. It WAS flat rate last fall when I used it last, and it was the post office who cued me in on that! However, postage rates are supposed to be going up AGAIN January 17th I've heard, wonder if that's got anything to do with it? Or, perhaps mine weighed less than 13 ounces...hmmmm, I am definitely gonna look into it! Thanks so much for letting me know!

And @susiescottsdale lol, thank you! Sometimes, after a glass of wine I CAN be quite entertaining indeed! (Which is exactly when I typed up this swap, lol!)

It has just come to my attention that some flat rate prices will increase, and some will completely go away...and all priority rates will be increasing. I will be unable to check on this until Thursday as I'll be out of town with my mom for a series of doctors appointments (for her,) so stay tuned...I may need to downsize or delete this swap if the rates hike too much. I will do what I can to keep it...deleting will be a last resort ;-)

Priority Mail 2-Dayâ„¢ Padded Flat Rate Envelope - $6.80

It shows it when you go online to calculate postage. Its really all I use but when I use it, its 5.05 on paypal. Well..WAS. ;)

jinxspinx 01/25/2016 #

Just did a fake label on paypal (google "how to print from paypal without getting a payment" << its how i ship packages). flat rate envelopes are now 5.75 if you use paypal to ship. And yes, you get a confirmation number.

Make sure you go to usps to order your bubble flat rate mailers and schedule pick-up from home to make it even more convenient for you.

Babsmomof5 01/26/2016 #

Thanks @jinxspinx I got a chance to go to the post office today and yes, flat rate has gone up to 6.80 for the small box or the padded envie. The postmaster said it was up to 40 pounds for that rate. I'm still good with that price, so going to continue as planned with the swap!

Babsmomof5 01/30/2016 #

I'm extending the date to encourage, hopefully, more participants!
