I organized this swap the last time & really enjoyed it. I've picked up a few of the recommended titles & I wasn't disappointed! Thanks for doing it again!

Hi All, I am a readaholic so this is definitely the place for me. I am already putting my list together and looking for a bookmark. I collect bookmarks so I really am looking forward to one. I love thrillers and mystery type books.

Oh my goodness. It is 10:30PM on the 24th and this swap still hasn\'t closed. This is very odd. Swaps are almost always closed by 6PM on the closing date.

Mine are gone :-) I had the lists and bookmarks ready so all I had to do is write the cards and address the envelopes. One to US, one outside US. This was such fun! Thank you EmilyBemily!

Mine are going out first thing Monday a.m. One is going to the Czech Republic and the other is going right accross the San Francisco Bay.

I am excited to finally know who my partners are! Mine should go out mid week- especially since one is going to Ireland. I look forward to reading the 2 lists- since I LOVE to read. And I always enjoy knowing what other people like in books. At airports I am always trying to look at the covers of books people are reading just to know what is out there that folks are reading at the moment.

How funny, ChesterBarb. I was doing the same thing on my flight home from Puerto Vallarta two weeks ago and the lady across from me gave me a funny look \'cause I was trying to read the back of her book to see what it was about( I think it was The Lives of Artists or something like that)!

Hi I sent out my letters today to Hanna in WA and Errin in NY

I mailed my letter packages out today. I\'m so excited! This is my first swap-bot swap!

My letters left yesterday for Canada and today for the USA...from France. :)

I sent my letters on Monday morning, I hope they will get both safely to US - I don't know how long it takes from the Czech Republic, so please be patient ;)

I've decided to leave my job and just read all the books that my swap-bot partners suggested. Do you think that's a bad thing??..............me either.

Still haven't gotten anything. :( If you sent late, maybe you should give your partners a heads-up?

It has only been 4 days since the send by date, so I think it is a bit early to be concerned about late sendings. It takes at least a week for mail to travel internationally, too, so you may not get anything for another week or so.

:sigh: Both the people to whom I sent lists and bookmarks are still marked "not sent" on the participant list, which indicates that I may never hear if they liked what I sent. I planned my lists so well and bought lovely bookmarks for each. I am about to give up on Swap-Bot. It is so easy to just post a little "got it!' note on the message list, but fewer and fewer people are doing that now.

From despair to delight. I just received the lists and bookmarks from both my partners, bookishknitter in CA and Hill in Netherlands. I am so very happy with the lists and absolutely gorgeous bookmarks. I'll be writing back to both of you this weekend. I've read some each of the four lists and I've added other titles from the lists to my wishlist already. Thank you!

As of today, you can now rate your swap partners. PLEASE be sure and do that as soon as possible, especially if you've already received something and have not had the chance to contact your partner to let them know you received it. Thanks. :)

I think it is important to note that when rating, please take into consideration that mail may be coming from someplace far away and may take more than 7 days to arrive. Before giving a 1, it would be wonderful if people use the participant list to find the sending partners and then message to let them know the swap hasn't arrived. Give them a day or two to respond, and if they do respond and say they sent it from someplace far away, wait a week before rating.

I know a lot of people rate 1 right away and then put "I'll change when I receive," but in the craziness of everyday life, sometimes the change doesn't happen. And sometimes people leave the community and don't make the change even when they receive the item. It is much kinder to wait a little longer for those international envelopes. Even stuff sent domestically, 'cause that can get delayed, too.

If stuff doesn't arrive in two weeks, I will rate a 1, but only if the person has a history of low ratings. If they have a high rating history, I don't rate at all because my feeling is that the item is lost in the mail and I don't ever expect anyone to resend just because the postal system screwed up.

Zmrzlina! It's awesome of you to post your Terribly Reasonable Policies publicly and add a little positivity and understanding to the public Swapbot community. PostMuse, too. :D It can be pretty discouraging to read a lot of negative, demanding, impatient commentary around here, and yay for you for helping combat that. Don't leave us! I keep seeing reasonable raters and understanding people get discouraged and leave Swapbot, but if everyone does that, then who'll be left? ;) Swapbot is such a cool idea, it shouldn't be allowed to get bogged down by negativity. Some of us love nice people, really. ;D

I agree with Zmrzlina. I've received nothing so far. One of my partners clicked "sent" so I assume it's on the way and will wait to rate. The other partner hasn't even sent it yet.If there's a problem, she should have sent me a message. I just sent her a message but why should I have to? Wouldn't giving her a 1 rating light a fire under her? All the same, I won't rate her yet unless she also blows off my message.

On the other hand, one of my letters (sent to Czech Republic on 2/27) apparently still hasn't arrived. My partner says Czech postal service is kinda iffy, so I'll be sad if I get a "no send" for that. :(

Lily Lemon --- I've already sent you an email, but to be sure - I was right, your letter was in todays post - when I came back from work it was waiting for me :)

So from the US it takes two weeks to make it (It was sent on 2/26 by the stamp and arrived on 2/12) - so from here to the US... I think it can take even longer :P

So PJKat and cutecake, if you have not recieved my lists yet, please be patient - it just takes a while ;) - Thanks for understanding :))

Oh, I'm soooo relieved. It was a long letter to have to rewrite and resend (I would have done it, though, of course!) :)

I have written to the site administrator, requesting the waiting period for the rating link be extended to two weeks, and for an option for members to dispute unfair ratings and have that dialog shown with the rating on their profile. The later is probably not something easy to code, but the former should be very easy. I never heard back, though. My email was sent a week or more ago.

Perhaps if lots of people messaged using the Contact Us link at the top of the page? Polite messages, written with lots of understanding of how difficult it can be to be the site administrator for such a large community, and being sure to thank them for all they do.

I had some complaints in the early days of my membership and promptly took them to the administrators, and my concerns were taken care of very, very quickly, including the disappearance of the annoying blinking ads (though I suspect I was not the only one who complained about those). However, I think I have become the squeaky wheel that is easier to ignore than to fix ;-)

Just a note so that K-K-K-Katie doesn't get a bad rating, she just let me know just let me know that she did sent the list but I haven't received it. she says she'll resend. I've done a number of swaps with just one partner so didn't actually notice I should have two lists. But that doubles the fun. June

I finally got a lovely letter from sonicgirl from Italy. It was toatlly worth the wait. She had cutouts of photos (like form Amazon.com) of each book's cover around the edges of the pages. Very cute and creative and a good visual if I want to find any of the books! Thanks, sonicgirl! :)

I got both of mine and LOVED them and have rated the senders. THANKS!

Lily Lemon ~ when I was in high school I did my bedroom in all pink and orange. Everyone thought I was nuts, and look what a trend it's turned into!!!
