Welcome to a new series of swaps! This is for those of us who are seeking new pen pals (not just for one letter, but for long-term letter exchanges). What Is This Swap? We all know how repetitive it can be to write an introduction letter to a pen pal. Even though you may handwrite it, it still seems almost like a "form" letter in the sense that you usually write about the same things: basics about you, hobbies, favorites, etc. Why not combine craftiness with an intro and make an introduction zine?! For this swap, you will create a zine. A zine has 6 pages and a front and back. You can find how to make a zine HERE. Instead of making one hard copy and photocopying it several times, you will make only one zine and send that one to your partner. Get creative with it! Add stickers, use stamps, draw something in the corners, what have you! The front cover should include your name and address. This is how your partner will reply if they think you two would make good pen pals. The inside pages should include one page for each category below:
The back cover should be sectioned into four spaces (you can do this simply by adding a few spots for people to write in). These spaces are where the people who receive your zine will put their Swap-Bot ID, their location, and date they receive your zine. When the fourth spot is full, the zine will be returned to you. When you are finished creating your zine, send it to your partner. When you receive a zine from your partner, read it and decide whether to write to your partner or not. Remember - the goal is to find new pen pals, but not everyone will find a good fit, so there is no requirement to write back. Put your Swap-Bot ID, where you're located (state/country, not full address unless you want to), and the date. Set it aside for the next round. Each future round, you'll create a new zine about you and send that to your new partner, along with the zine you received in the previous round. When you receive a zine that you are the fourth person to sign the back, you will then send it home to the person whose address is on the front so that they can at least see where their zine has traveled.
