Description:

I am a huge fan of poetry and would like to combine the poetry and postcard idea.

The idea is to take a poem, or just a quote from a poem, something that will fit on a postcard and send it to your swap partners.

Everyone will have three partners and will send one postcard to each partner. The postcards can be store bought, or handmade. The main focus is on the poetry or quote.

International swappers welcome since it is just postcard postage.

Feel free to email me at any time with any questions!!

Looking over the last poetry swap there are a couple of no sends so I will ban people with more than one not sent rating.

Do we send the postcards stamped and weathered or put them in an envelope?

user5587 02/17/2007 #

I personally like mine au natural.....part of the point of a postcard in my mind is that it has been well travelled.

girlzoot 02/19/2007 #

My preference is also weathered for the postcards.

this should be fun! it will be my first swap :)

It will be my first swap also... *grin

How do we know who our partners are?

marcia1977 02/21/2007 #

Sorry, I just read that we will be emailed with that information. Being that the last day to sign up was 2/19 when should I expect to receive my partners. As I said earlier, I am new to this. Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated...

Hi, I just have a question - I received my swap partners, and one of them is a person I JUST sent a poetry on a postcard to in another swap - does that matter? It won't be the same poem, but should I be concerned about this, or just send it off anyway? Mary

Mailed my three postcards today.

this is getting frustrating - I received the fourth swap from someone who I cannot identify from the name list - I have NO idea who sent it from here. There is NO "swap-bot" name on the card, and I cannot tell by reading everyone's profile who it is from!

As I said, this is the fourth swap that has been this way - with nothing on it to identify who sent it from here. I do have the name, but that name is NOT on the swap list - since so many of us use "nicknames" - -

I'm about ready to give up here.

MaryB - and yes, my "gramsbuttonbox" is on every swap I send.

I hate when that happens, Gram's button box. My name is my nickname, so it is on all of my swaps. I also wish people would write which swap things are for - sometimes it's difficult to tell!

user6347 02/28/2007 #

I'm afraid to say I am one of those people. I forgot to put my swap-bot name on the card.

IF you get a postcard of Sydney (Australia), that'll be me. Unless someone else sent one as well.

user6368 03/ 4/2007 #

I only signed my real name as well (michelle), this was my first swap and now i know better! but if you received a lotta jansdotter postcard with lady bug or bird stickers on the front, that was from me : )

TriceraMolly,

Your poem by Edgar Allen Poe was very moving. I loved this part - "Shall find her own sweet name, that, nestling lies upon the page, enwrapped from every reader."

deedeenet 03/ 5/2007 #

Michelle I,

Your poem was wonderful. I've never heard of your poet before and I had to look her up. Her work is very lyrical. I liked how she infused her poem with sewing metaphors, "...grackles are claiming their trees and the sky which sews and sews, tirelessly sewing, drops her purple hem." I loved that and it makes me see the sky differently each time I look up.

I received a poetry card today from Sydney, Australia but unfortunately the person didn't put their name on the postcard. The poem was from W.H. Auden. Thank you, I liked it. It sounds like a song.

received beautiful poem from angelfire97 - thanks so much Marie, I really liked it, and had to marvel how true those words still are, even so many years later. Enjoyed the NC postcard too, such a lovely state that is. have a good week,

and a big thanks to everyone who "noticed" and made a note to include swap names in their swaps - sometimes all it takes is to mention something like that to realize how just a tiny "change" can help so much - - I think that's a good thing, and will surely make all our swaps better!

what a great bunch of people in swap-bot! Cheers! MaryB

Hey Lloyd,

I got your card! Thanks for the hint on the Aussy origins. Loved the poem.

wiccked 03/10/2007 #

Has anyone received one from me yet? I posted them very early on in the swap, but nobody has mentioned getting one yet. It's about colours..

gramsbuttonbox 03/11/2007 #
