I recently had the joy of discovering the art of Darcie Copeland at an art show in Laguna Beach. She specializes in painting rebuses. This is an art form that utilizes images of objects to represent words in a riddle or puzzle. For example, the image above is her painting of Plain and Peanut M&Ms. You can see others on her website. For this swap, you will create an ATC that is a rebus. If you are skilled at painting and/or drawing (well enough that your objects are identifiable), you may do so. If not, no worries! Just create a collage of images. Just make sure it is a cohesive piece of art (even if it is a bit surreal). Don't simply put a few images together in code like the old Highlights magazine had children decipher. Also, be original, come up with your own phrases and compositions...use Darcie as inspiration, but don't steal her art. All other ATC rules are in place. 2.5" x 3.5"; sturdy back with your info and the answer to the riddle, and obviously no sticker slapping. If there is enough interest, I may do more of these. Maybe even themes, such as song titles or others. |
