Send each of your two partners one piece of mail -- this is a type 3 swap - so package swap, along with INTENSE creativity please! (This is more than just a simple altered postcard.)

Be fun and inventive -- WOW your partner!

Just some ideas to start with and form your mail call swap around --

Outside mIght be --

-- altered or handmade piece of mail art, with fun innards

-- a big envelope plastered with stamps with special things inside

-- a deco-taped envelope

-- a partner's name spelled out with alpha letters

-- theme such as Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter (or other non-seasonal themes -- circus, safari, vacation, etc!)

-- something "unusual" that isn't typically mailed

-- a package filled with special things for your partner

These are just some ideas -- this swap is wide open, so please share your ideas/links below in comments section

Please be sure to include a note for your partners, too - surprises are welcome and, although this is sender's choice mail, idea is to WOW your partners ...

SPECIAL BONUS coming your way -- If you join this swap, in addition to getting and sending 2 fun pieces of mail, once you have sent and been rated by your two partners, you will also get a bonus third piece of mail, a special WIYM surprise, for this swap only

This swap is open to ALL WIYM members, world-wide (subject as always to host's discretion - ex: recent/questionable ratings, as stated on group homepage), and it's one of the quarterly "mail--call" giveaway swaps

Please rate your sending partners promptly. Happy Swapping!

What is a mail call exactly? :-)

lou 03/24/2015 #

Well, literally, it's when you have mail.

For THIS swap, it's special mail, some examples/ideas stated in swap description - you put together a very special and creative package for each of your two partners!

Thank you for explaining! This looks like a lot of fun, I enjoy putting together special mail :-)

Is there a minimum amount / spend?

lou 03/27/2015 #

There hasn't been a stated minimum in past. However, since the issue is now raised, I'm posting this info/guideline: one of our WIYM group officers hosted a past swap that stated as a minimum (not including postage) a $5 spend or at least an hour making an item. That seems fair as a starting point. I don't want this to be contentious: many group members have participated in the mail call swaps and have been very generous and creative with their partners. This is NOT a postcard swap, there's a long time to gather and/or make things to send and to check issues with your assigned partners. I encourage members who've been in the swaps to post ideas and comments here - your host (Lou)

I am glad this issue has come up. I will have to look closer at swap descriptions so I get them right. I would never intentionally not keep to swap guidelines on any swap. However, if you are asking that the swap be comparative to a package swap, two partners may be one too many, especially if the package or mail piece is to be special. How does one judge whether the swap met the guidelines. What one person thinks is fabulous, someone else may think it is not. Art is subjective. Each person's opinion is different. I have to say, I love these swaps and everyone should 1) always carefully read the description of the swap so there are no mistakes (myself included) and 2) approach the swap as if you are making it for the person you love most in the world. That way, it is always your best effort.

This is an international swap - if your swap goes missing, please be willing to re-send if joining this swap, thanks!

A minimum of $5 each means $10 plus possible international postage. I recently sent a 5 inch by 7 inch journal to the UK, and the postage cost me almost $17!!! Something to think about.....

Note from the host: Flat mail is fine for this swap - as long as it is creative - so no need to incur the more expensive package rates, unless you choose to do so! Also, as stated, you can use your time and creativity to put together something special for your partner, if you choose that route.

dabellaraquella 05/15/2015 #

@PrairieKittin : She also said "a $5 spend OR at least an hour MAKING the item. This is supposed to be a simple creativity swap to brighten someones mailbox. Don't look at it for more than what it really is. No one is sending journals for this swap, just a happy piece of mail.

And @lou could you please stop with the huge bold letters? I feel like I am being yelled at.

lou 05/27/2015 #

Lou here (aka old yeller lol) - comments in bold for emphasis, not meant to offend, just to stand out &/or be informative, lots of comments this time.

Hope everyone that joined is having a great swap!
