Description:

This is a variation of an assignment I did in high school. I tried it again a couple of years ago and really liked the results...I thought it might be a great idea for a swap.

1) Print or sign your name on a 4 x 6 inch rectangle (I have a template - if you sign up for the swap & want to use the template, just email me and I'll send it to you.) Use any colors you'd like. Your whole name or just your first name. Have fun with it.

2) Cut the rectangle up into 1" squares (or 1/2", if you're really ambitious)

3) Glue the squares in random order onto a blank postcard. (I use 4" x 6" blank index cards)

I've put you with 4 swap partners so you get some variation in your return.

No envies - just send it through the post please!

This is the first swap I've ever hosted, so I hope it goes smoothly!

International participants welcome.

You must have a complete profile and a rating of 4 or higher. Newbies welcome.

In order to still be classified as a "postcard" in the US, the maximum size can only be 4x6 inches. Larger than that is higher postage.

Can we use the postcard dimensions required by the US Post Office (approx. 4 x 6) for this instead?

Yes that's fine! 4"x6"... ...now that I've looked at it, I was wrong - my template is 4" x 6" if anyone needs it!

I love this idea!!

What type of glue is best? Can we scan and print? No glue required!!

aydeeyai 07/25/2008 #

Yes, you could scan and print. I used Modge Podge for mine. (I thought the texture was cool.)

What Modge Podge, there are 3 all different?

I think I used the matte kind. I made it a while ago, so I don't remember for sure. You could probably use any kind as long as you let it dry thoroughly before sending it.

Acrylic matte medium would work too...

I used my Xyron (I have a 1.5" wide one) to make the squares sticky and adhered them to a piece of heavy cardstock! Worked great!

I am so-o ready to mail these!! Partners soon I hope!!
