Description:

***** WHAT TO SWAP *****

Make 1 mug rug (can be festive themed or not) to post out to a fellow swapper and in return you'll get a mug rug of your own from a swapper. (Note: the person you're sending to may not be the person you receive from.)

****** SIZE REQUIREMENTS ******

The mug rug must meet the following size requirements:

Minimum size - 4" x 6"

Maximum size - 6" x 10"

If you do a shape other than a rectangle, the biggest side of the shape cannot exceed 10".

The mug rug MUST BE QUILTED - this means there's 3 layers: a back, a front and a layer of wadding of some sort (can be flannel, batting, fusible batting, insulated batting, etc.)

****** IMPORTANT ******

You must use good quality quilting weight cottons. (We want this mug rug to last through multiple washes and spills.)

The beauty of a mug rug is that it'll fit in a standard size letter and be quite light, so because of that I'm only running one worldwide swap. (This means you may have to post internationally.)

****** Swap Extras ******

There's no need to include any extras with this swap so please don't feel like you have to, but if you'd like to it's always a nice inclusion. (Just make sure to check your partners details to make sure they don't have any allergies, etc.)

****** Give unto Others ******

It should go without saying, but just so we're clear: only swap material that you would be happy to receive and use in a quilt yourself. This means swapping quilting quality material (preferably cotton). Using a mix of pattern and colour that you think your partner would like. (Obviously this one is a little subjective, so again if you'd be happy to use it swap it - if in doubt probably best to either contact the person you're swapping with to see if they'd like it or maybe keep it for yourself (and your own house quilt!).)

****** Communication is Key ******

I understand that life sometimes throws you a curve ball and means that you can't always do what you would like, so if for any reason you have to pull out of the swap just drop me (and if you're so inclined) your partners an email to let me know and we'll work around it. The more warning you can give the better so that I can redirect packages, etc.

****** Time is Money ******

Please post your swap items to your swap partner by the postage date specified. If you're anything like me just knowing that something is coming in the mail is uber exciting, so it would be great if all our packages arrive around the same time so that we can all celebrate together.

****** Quilt Karma ******

Ultimately a swap like this is only as good as what you put in to it so please remember to treat everyone as you would expect to be treated. Chances are if you shaft someone today, you'll be shafted tomorrow. Questions

If you have any questions at all please let me know.

This will be such fun.

I see that this is International. Can you tell me what the range of $ that it typically would cost to send the typical mugrug to someone internationally? I'm in USA. Thank for any information. I realize it will be a ballpark figure, I just don't want to get in over my head. LOL Thanks in advance!

gnomeangel 11/26/2014 #

@thriftyone - I'm not really sure as I'm in Australia - it should fit in a standard envelope and not weigh much, depends if you include any extras. Do USPS have a website where you can put information in and see what the cost would be? Sorry I can't be of more help.

starhiker 11/26/2014 #

usps.com they can help you @ThriftyOne

3 ounce parcel from US to Australia is $9 to $10

Great, thank you for the additional info and help. I'm IN! Wow you're almost at 100 swappers, I think will make 99 when I sign up! Congrats! I'm new to this but I would think that is quite an accomplishment. Happy swapping!!! :)

WooHoo one hundred participants. I've never used swap bot before. How do we know what happens next?

mommaduck 11/26/2014 #

Scrap that ! Just noticed the red next to message. Facepalm. Off to edit profile now.

Foxmorepatty 11/27/2014 #

How do I find who my partner is? I see no info or link, although this is where the email directed me. Thank you!

Graciante 11/27/2014 #

Foxmorepatty:

Look for yellow box in upper right hand corner. Click on "see the partners you send to." That will give you the information on your partner.

Hmm, somehow I clicked my swap was sent, or at least that is showing. Have not yet sent! How can I fix that?

Graciante 11/28/2014 #

E-mail Gnome-Angel. I'm clueless on that. I had the same problem you did with finding my partner, so thought I would help out..... :)

nads 11/28/2014 #

Is the person who comes up as the person I send swap to , sending to me back

gnomeangel 11/29/2014 #

@nads - no, the person you send to is NOT the person you receive from :)

alipal 12/ 1/2014 #

when I'm clicking on"view partners you send to" I get the persons name and address, but none of the info about their preferences. How do I see their profile to get fabric and design ideas? Thanks

me0wp00 12/ 1/2014 #

Gekko22 01/ 3/2015 #

Opened my package today!! It most likely arrived a few days ago but I have been away attending a wedding! Sorry that my partner had to wait so long to find out I had received it!! The mug rug is very pretty; I'll enjoy using it. I'll think of my partner fondly every time I use it! Thanks GnomeAngel for organizing this swap!!
