Description:

I adore charms! I have received a package of Tim Holtz charm blanks and thought it would be fun to share the fun. For this swap I will send to each participant, the charm blanks and you will use your paper supplies to make and send 5 completed charms. A quick walk through of how to make them

  1. receive the charm blanks

  2. pick paper scraps/ or create paper with interesting backgrounds or perhaps an interesting focal point.

  3. adhere paper to the charm blank with an embellishment glue (I use glossy accents) and then if you want a quick seal of the back of the paper will make them extra sturdy.

  4. if you want to add extras or few extra embellishments to complete the charm

As this is a first for me and perhaps others who are interested I am making step four optional. The swap is for the completed charms.

here is a tutorial: tutorial

I am looking forward to learning a new craft with all of you. This swap is open to everyone who wishes to participate. While this is senders choice as to how to finish the charms, as always a quick glance at your partners profile will allow you to send something they can use as well. I am allowing plenty of time to send as I anticipate sending some charms overseas!

I just wanted to make sure I understood this correctly, you are providing us with the necessary charm to create and swap? Thanks!

Created46 06/ 4/2014 #

Yes I will be providing the clear pieces which you will adhere paper to, to create the charms. I have already started looking through paper. I am rather excited about this swap.

for clarification I am sending the clear fragments shown in the tutorial

I have assigned partners and I am excited. Thank you all for participating. I have addressed the envelopes and the charm blanks are going out in tomorrows post. Just a few additional thoughts: I think the metal finish in the tutorial is a neat way of finishing the charm but not required for this swap. I sealed a couple of mine with glossy accents after adding a couple of small beads/embellishments. That way they have two sides if someone wants to attach them to a book, bookmark or whatever! However the second side does not need additional decoration as the purpose of this swap is to allow all of us to learn to make the charms!

I'm excited about this swap too, and eager to play with this new (to me!) technique. Thanks so much for hosting!!

How did you add gears and moveable clock hands to the plastic?

Lynne72 06/14/2014 #

I received mine..can't wait to create and learn something new

Created46 06/14/2014 #

Hibiscus I am unsure who you are addressing your question to but none of my pieces are movable. I like the thought though

@hibiscus the lady in the video stated she added the gears or whatnot to the front of the plastic charm using glossy accents. As an idea, if you add the metal embossing to the back of the charm, you could also add the moveable parts on that side by pushing a brad through the metal sheeting before adhereing it to the charm.

I thought I saw it on one of the charms in the video?
