Description:

The idea for this is a baggie of 5 countries total. First you will pick 3 different countries from the list below that I came up with (not in the comments, in this swap description) & the remaining 2 countries you can pick any countries you want! Then you will send at least one item for each country that showcases that country in some way or something the country is known for, so that your partner can experience a variety of things inspired by places all over the world.

Its senders choice for the items not profile based, but don't send all the same types of items, give variety, and at least one item for EACH of the 5 countries you pick. No more than two handmade items and please not all paper products in your baggies. Sticker Sheets and Washi Tape I don't count as paper.

DONT FORGET to Include a note with your baggie telling your partner the 5 countries you picked and which items represent which place.

Here is the Country List you pick your First 3 countries from (Last 2 countries you pick to make up your five are completely up to you, the sender, but if your stumped you can go ahead and pick all five from mine.)

(The items in parenthesis are just a few examples of what that country is known for and to help get some inspiration flowing)

  • FRANCE (Cheese, Wine, Museums/Art, Fashion, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triumph, The Louvre Museum)

  • SPAIN (Barcelona, tapas, Flamenco dance, Bullfighters)

  • CHINA (Pandas, The Great Wall, Terra Cotta Warriors, The Forbidden City)

4.98 to join and at least 5 rated type 3 swaps, no bad ratings recent or unresolved, or in the past in excess. No ones at all. I check profiles carefully before assigning partners.

This isn't profile based so you can start your baggies anytime! Have fun above all & send quality items! Ive given plenty of time to send so please send ON TIME!

Sounds fun! I will certainly join (I always watch until the last minute). If you're open to suggestions, I'd love to see Norway and/or Germany, but even without those countries it looks like there are plenty of interesting and fun possibilities on the list! (In fact, it will be hard to choose which 5 countries! :>)

nellswell 05/10/2014 #

Ah, just re-read and saw that you are open to suggestions! So yes -- my suggestions are Norway (or Scandinavia/Nordic in general; items could include vikings, trolls, anything to do with Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, Astrid Lindgren's "Pippi Longstocking" or other stories, gnomes, etc.)

I said Germany in my above comment but I'm now having a difficult time thinking of things it's famous for that are swappable. :-)

MissWhimsy 05/10/2014 #

I had a hard time to,for same reason, with Germany, lol. But I will add Norway for sure! If you or anyone wants Germany as well or any other country I missed just let me know. Maybe add a few things it's known for in your comment if you can to help give those who don't know the place well ideas. Thankyou for the great country suggestion @thaskett

Wow, another fabulous idea!

MissWhimsy 05/10/2014 #

Thanks Zoe ;)

For Germany there is the Dirndl dress, Lederhosen (leather britches) -- think of the outfit you'd see at an Oktoberfest, Alps, nutcrackers, music boxes, Volkswagen, Levi jeans, cuckoo clocks, German Shepherds, steins, etc.

MissWhimsy 05/10/2014 #

Awesome list, thank you @CraftiNana I will add Germany now. :)

nellswell 05/11/2014 #

Great list, @CraftiNana !

Here's another suggestion: Canada (known for maple leaf/maple syrup, hockey, moose, Nanaimo bars, Montreal, mounties, poutine -- lol, not sure how many of these would work for swap items, but you never know!).

I'm so looking forward to this swap! :-)

MissWhimsy 05/11/2014 #

Oh ya good call @thaskett I will add Canada & I can use good ole google search to find more things Canada is known for :)

luleemik 05/13/2014 #

How about Mexico? Day of the Dead, Lucha Libre, Cinco de Mayo, tacos & margaritas, Virgin de Guadalupe, pottery, tin art, milagros, etc.

MissWhimsy 05/14/2014 #

Good One @luleemik I will add Mexico!

rmrascal 05/25/2014 #

I know Canada is one of 3 I will pick

MissWhimsy 05/26/2014 #

Ive edited the swap description so it flows better and removed some of the text not really needed so it doesn't read so long and get confusing. :)

what size baggie? watching for now :)

MissWhimsy 06/13/2014 #

Hi @ Juliagolia87! The minimum required size baggie is a regular sized Ziplock sandwich baggie, but you can always go bigger. Just no smaller than the Ziplock sandwich baggie, not the snacks size. Hope that helps :)

Juliagolia87 06/13/2014 #

thanks MissWhimsy!!!
