Quilt/Sew Swap Questionnaire

All of the questions are sewing/quilting related. If you are not interested in this type of swap, Please do not sign up! You will email your answers to your partners – I have put 20 partners which I avoid swaps with that many partners as it is hard to keep track of rating all of them, BUT I am hoping to have at LEAST 10 people sign up and give me some feed to start some sewing swaps!

  1. What type of swap interests you most?

  2. Do you like for a swap to be in a series? If so do you want all the series posted at once or one at a time?

  3. Do you prefer to pick colors or be surprised by what your partner picks?

  4. If doing a block – What size do you prefer?

  5. When you sign up for a swap – What annoys you most?

  6. Do you like a finished project or a project building swap?

  7. Would you try to learn a new technique?

  8. Hand sewing or machine?

  9. Suggestions on what to do with unwanted fabrics received from previous swaps.

  10. Are you more likely to join a swap if is it associated with a group?

  11. Would you do a pattern swap? A. Clothing B. Quilt C. Project

  12. If doing a fabric swap – what size is preferable: 1 yard, ½ yard, fat quarter, charms squares, or smaller?

  13. What influences you most – Cost or Time?

  14. Would you be interested in a UFO (unfinished object) swap – You would send your unfinished project to a partner (preferable with everything required to complete it) They would finish it and return to you for a reward!

  15. Sewing related swap ideas: List 3 Example: BOM Swap Pattern swap Sewing journal swap

I hope you’ve found this interesting – I am considering hosting a few swaps if enough interest is shown.

Cheers, Ali

I am learning to sew and have not done anything yet so won't be joining the swap but it sounds interesting!! Just out of interest... i will be buying a sewing machine and was wondering which one is good for thin quilts? Was thinking of a beginners cheap one. Any recommendations? Please message me any suggestions :-) thanks you!!

@reesespieces - I do a ton of quilting. I have an Elna Quilter's Dream and love it. I bought it in 2001 for $1,000 and just recently had to take it to the shop for the very first time. :)

@reesepieces - I have a Brother Innovis 4500 that does embroidery and I use it for quilting and all other kinds of sewing. I also own a lighter weight Brother -- Project Runway, limited edition machine that I use when I go to quilting classes. It cost me $300-400 (I can't exactly remember the price) I love that machine also. It would make a good beginner machine as it has some pre-programmed fancy stitches as well as all the general stitches need to quilt with.
