Description:

This swap is simple. You will print the world map from the comment section below. You will read. Your will put a star on the MAIN country your book took place in. Each book should only be on your map 1 time. You will add the title, author, country name and you will rate it 1-5 (1 is poor and 5 is great). You can use a key method or try to list the info in the country. I will put a link to a map in the comments below. Feel free to print the map in color or black and white. YOU WILL MAKE A COPY OF YOUR MAP AND SEND IT - NOT THE ORIGINAL! You can continue your same map for 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter if you chose to join or you can start anew. I've set a late join date, but start as soon as you can. You should try to have at least 3 books by the send date.

Here is the map i have chosen. I'm open to comments but only if you are IN the swap: http://www.freeworldmaps.net/pdf/world/ApianGlobular1.pdf

The map is blank so you have more room to write. You can find another map to print with country names if you need it (which I feel many of us will!)

How can i join here? I need so badly

I have a question- is there supposed to be a certain amount of books we read a quarter? And we're actually swapping the map itself?

scottishrosefaerie 12/30/2013 #

Oh nevermind on the first question!

kgeslab 12/30/2013 #

You will make a copy of your map and swap that.

I think the map is a bit small for people like me who mainly read books from European countries, so if possible I would like to add this map http://www.freeworldmaps.net/europe/blank_map.html

I wonder if we should use whatever map we want to use - I have a map that I really liked that is bigger than this. Please advise.

kgeslab 01/10/2014 #

You may use any map as long as it is A-4 (letter) size or bigger.

I have made a small change to the swap. You can now add more than one book per country. Try to list it as near to the setting as possible.

If a book has more than one setting, or a setting that doesn't exists on the map, what do we do there?

kgeslab 03/18/2014 #

Pick the one that is most used or if it is a non=Earth place add it to the back of the map.

If I have a ton of books in one specific location already and I have a book that has other locations featured, is it okay to choose one of those lesser locations as the location for the book?

Example: I have a book that won't tell me specifically what its main location is. The location used second most frequently is London, England. But there are other locations where the story takes place like Persia and the Barbary Coast. Could I use one of these lesser locations because the story goes there as well? Or should I just leave it off the list because the book doesn't list the real main location?

Kate, if I were your partner, I'd be okay with seeing the lesser location(s)!

Mapped reading went out today to my partners. Headed to Ireland and Germany coming from the U.S. Enjoy!
