Description:

We can use a regular composition notebook. It will be mostly writing but if you choose to fancy up some pages, that is fine by me. Especially if those pages are you meeting goals or a vision board type page.

This journal will run from Dec 1 through Feb 28.

The first couple pages would be a BIO geared more towards weight loss. Things about you, how you gained your weight, things you have tried before, success you may have already had, etc. Include how much you would like to lose.

The next page should be a list of things you want to be able to do as you lose weight. These can be small like walk around the block without getting winded or to bigger things like run a marathon. Try to include at least 10 things. If we achieve them in the 3 months, we could write the date next to it!

Those are just at the beginning but can also be added to along the way on other pages. As we lose weight, sometimes our goals change!

Daily things to include

  • your daily mood status...can be one sentence or like an entire journal entry. It can show how your mood effects your eating or exercise.

  • the food you eat...don't leave anything out. I don't plan to. And I will not judge you for having pizza or cupcakes. :D

  • the exercises you do- these do not have to show the calories burnt because it varies. I don't have a HRM so I just go by what myfitnesspal says. It is wrong but I figure as long as I have calories being burnt from exercise, I am okay.

  • a daily positive and a daily negative...positive example is "I did not grab that slice of pizza at the gas station when I got gas today" (true story) and negative example is "I ate the last donut at my sister's house today even though I had already had one." (again...true story)

And though these are not DAILY happenings, your weigh ins. I personally weigh in once a week but some people like more, some people do it every 2 weeks, some people do it once a month. They just need to be included. Can just be something like "I lost 5 pounds for a total of 20 pounds lost" or "I gained 1 pound but am still down 15 total"

At the end, we write a summary of our 3 month journey. How much we lost overall. How we have changed, what we do now that we did not do before.

Also let me know if you would like your journal returned. I plan to make my journal as a copy so I do not need it returned. It will be nice to look back maybe after a year and see how things are. Maybe in a year, we will have hit our goal. Maybe in a year we will have lost our way and will need a reminder on what we did.
