Description: | |
This will be a very unique swap. Geocaching is a treasure hunt of sorts, using coordinates on a map. When you find the "cache," sign the log, and trade trinkets or move a trackable along to another cache. If you are intrigued, but haven't "met" geocaching, go to www.geocaching.com and learn about this fun hobby and be ready to get addicted!!! Geocaching info (printable info sheet) and examples can be found on my website at: NOTE: this web page only needs to be refreshed to see newly added info, so save it as a favorite to easily return to it! For those who already geocache, you will love this! You will need to buy a travel bug trackable if you don't have one. INSTRUCTIONS (10-31-13 revision) 1) Get a travel bug trackable (amazon.com has them) 2) Attach the Swap TB trackable tag to an appropriate travel bug of your choice 3) Activate using a fun name THAT AWAYS BEGINS WITH "SWAP TB" so they are is easy to search for at geocaching.com (ie, one of mine I have out is a Gumby keychain TB named "Where's Pokey?"...If it were a new one I was naming for this swap, I would have named it "SWAP TB Where's Pokey?") 4) Log the newly activated Swap TB in a nearby "VISITED" cache to create a starting point for miles accumulation 3) Wait for your partner assignment 4) Send your newly activated travel bug to your swap partner 5) When you receive your Swap TB, you may do one of the following: -- visit other caches in their area with the Swap TB, take a photo, and LOG THE VISITS -- travel with the Swap TB, take photos, and LOG THE VISIT -- drop the Swap TB in a local interesting cache, take a photo, and LOG THE DROP Feel free to travel with the swap TB that you receive to show off your area caches before your final drop. Please take photos of each cache visit and remember to LOG THE VISIT. Don't forget to log the first cache VISIT as it will be the starting point for TB miles...mine is always the cache on our property. It will be fun to watch it travel on its map. Make sure the Geocache container is large enough for the Swap TB! Always have a pen with you to sign the log You MUST be a geocacher (or want to be one!) to do this swap, because it would be an easy one to flake on! International geocachers will make this a lot of fun. I'll look at your geocahcing.com ID to make sure you are legit. If you are a newbie and HONESTLY want to enjoy this fun hobby, check out geocaching.com! |
