I've been tossing this idea around in my head for a little bit. I'd like to do a semi long-term secret admirer swap. If it generates enough interest, I'll make it a monthly thing.

  • You must have a completed profile filled out to participate in this swap.
  • This swap is international, no one is excluded.
  • No one with ratings under 4, please.
  • You will have one swap partner.
  • There will be a total of four things to do during the month of January.
  • You cannot (if at all possible) reveal yourself to your partner until the last activity. If you suspect your partner will know who you are, email me, and you can use my address as a return address for your package.
  • Because of the "secret" nature of this swap, please try to remember to post here when you've received an item from your admirer.

How to play:

Week 1 (must be sent by January 5th): It's the new year! Send your partner a postcard or a greeting card to help them start the new year off on the right foot!

Week 2 (must be sent by January 12th): The holidays are winding down. Send your partner something to help them relax and enjoy their downtime. $5.00 before postage - (ideas: an envelope of teas/coffees/hot chocolates, a king sized candy bar, bubble baths, a few chapsticks/lip glosses, socks, mittens - check their profile)

Week 3 (must be sent by January 19th): Send your partner a "ransom" postcard/card/letter with words/letters cut from newspapers or magazines - try something creative (haiku, couplets, iambic pentameter if you're feeling crazy, lyrics). If you wish, this can drop hints as to who you are.

Week 4 (must be sent by January 26th): Valentine's Day is just around the corner! Send a sweet, homemade Valentine to your partner. Include something sweet for them - a Hershey's kiss, a candy bar, candy hearts, along with a letter telling them who you are.

The "end date" for this swap is the day the very last item to your partner should be sent. Please follow the above guidelines for posting.

I think that should be everything you need to know. Because I've made this international, I've tried to keep postage costs in mind.

I really enjoyed thinking up this swap, and I hope it gets a good response.

I don't think there's anyway to not know who your sender is.. if you click to leave a rating, it will lead you to your partner... Not sure if you thought of that yet... Just a tip! Love the idea though!

Shnookly, from the Ratings FAQ:

However, this option does not appear until one week (7 days) after the MAIL DEADLINE for the swap. This delay allows time for items to travel through the mail and also ensures that the swaps stay anonymous until you receive your package. It may take longer than a week to receive a package from your partner, so don’t feel like you must rate your partners right away.

So... they won't know until 7 days after the close of the swap - AFTER they've already revealed themselves.

Essentially: write a note/letter/card/postcard to your partner, but rather than HANDwriting it, use letter cutouts from newspapers, magazines, junk mail - the way a ransom note looks.

I'm kinda new to this but wanted to make sure about something:

I sent my letter off today...so is it ok for me to click sent my package link for my partner? And each time we send out will this link need to be clicked?

You can choose to mark sent or not - it's not really ideal for this type of swap. I haven't, because I like to keep it "new" as it's an ongoing swap. However, I am sending emails out each week to make sure that everyone knows what to do - so if you choose to mark "sent" just make sure you follow the email instructions and have your partner's addresses handy! Hope you're all having fun with it.

I'm glad you're finding them handy - I was worried some might get annoyed, but it was the only way I could see to feasibly keep everyone on task - so I'm glad I've had no complaints. This is a fun swap, I like it a lot - I think I will do it monthly :)

Anyone who, by the end of NEXT week (as this was international), has not received their packages, please let me know so that I can ban them from future swaps.

Although, it seems making this a monthly swap seems out of the question, as it's already been copied by other users here, so I guess we'll see.

I got an angel package today!!! OMG what a super big surprise it was to see this package from a secret admirer! I had no idea at all there would be an angel! And an angel they are!!!! I am super happy and opened the first envelope today. Which contained the cutest bunny and chickie (it's probably a duck but it's my chickie hehe) Can't wait to dig in to the next envelope on April 10th! Thank you soooooo very much to this angel who has appeared our of nowhere! You are greatly appreciated and now have a special spot in my heart <3
