This is an oldie but goodie (OBG) swap that we first did in the Write Now group back in 2010. I am super pleased to report that @Patty and I are still writing back and forth in the journal we used for the original swap. Maybe you'll find a long-time writing buddy as well!

I'm going to make this version U.S. only. If there's a demand, it can be expanded to international. Just post below.

The Writing Buddy swap:

This is designed as a long-term pen pal swap. You’ll be paired with one partner.

Buy, get or make a small notebook, something that will be fairly inexpensive to mail back and forth. In the notebook, write a letter to your writing buddy about your writing experiences, goals, challenges, etc. The idea is to develop an on-going relationship with a fellow writer. By sending the same notebook back and forth, you will remember what you have written to each other.

It will be a good idea to write both of your names, addresses and email contacts on one of the inside covers so you'll always know who you're sending to.

(Keep in mind, that with one assigned partner, you will actually be communicating with two people: the person you send to and the person you receive a notebook from.

The parameters of what you discuss and or do will be between you and your partner. Some suggestions to keep the letters going:

• Ways to overcome writing weaknesses

• Writing challenges

• What you're working on or trying to work on

• Book recommendations and/or reviews

• Writing prompts to try

• Articles or Web sites to share

• Discussions on POV, setting, characterization, etc
