Description:

My preschooler loves "tinkering" as do most children. To entice her to use her imagination we have come to have in our home a "tinker box"! Here we put interesting objects that she can use to create whatever her mind may come up with for a project. This is not necessarily craft items, but a variety of objects, some examples:

springs, spare nuts and bolts, rubber bands, swatches of fabric, plastic/paper tubes, random beads, Styrofoam shapes, chains, bottle caps, old keys and coins, random junk drawer items, just whatever!

To keep things interesting I thought a swap of tinker items for our kids would be fun! Let's send some items our children might be getting less interested in and get some new ones to entice their imaginations!

In this swap please include at least 6 items. If items are small please include more than one of the item or additional items, otherwise each items must be different in it's usage (i.e. do not send multiple types of rubber bands to get to your minimum item requirement).

Please only send items that you would want to receive in return, it is not expected the item be in "new" condition, but it must be usable.

NOTE Some craft items are acceptable for this but this is not a craft item swap. Think Tinkerbell! What does she use to construct her creations?

Due to the nature of the items being swapped in this swap it is recommended only for those with children over 3 years old as the items may not be large/safe enough for younger children.

Rating requirement set at 4.5, US only swap but if you would like to participate and do not meet these requirements feel free to email me! One swap partner each for this first swap to see how it goes!

This swap would be for my son who is age 12-his interests are on my profile, but he is also a tinkerer that loves to invent and imagine. Thanks for making such a fun swap! Could others list some of the things their children like to do or what they are into and age so we have some insight if we get their child :)

The one tinker box will be for my 8 and 6 year old granddaughters for summer time crafting and fun. They would be happy with nature items, ribbons, beads, buttons, fun paper, etc. Mud pie cooking utensils (old spoons, plastic cups, etc.). Both of them like to do all the normal childhood summertime things: catching fireflies in jars, mud pies decorated with flowers, small baskets of honeysuckle flowers, watching starry skies on a blanket, having picnics, well, you know.

Thanks for leaving your info on your kiddos ladies! :) If anyone else wishes to share it would be a great idea so we can send objects that out children will very much enjoy!
My daughter is 4 years old and very into nature and right now obsessed with birds. baskets and boxes, anything that she can collect things in is always her favorite for years now!

Less than a week to send your stuff! :)

Reminder to everyone :) I know it may be alittle challenging to come up with items to tinker with that are not craft items, but please try your hardest :) Some crafty items are ok but have a variety of items in your package so children can be as creative as possible with them! If you limit it to things they can cut/stick it will not grab their attention as much as a variety of items of different sizes, shapes that they may not have ever seen before even, or thought of using for something outside of it's original purpose! Let's make this as fun as we can for out kiddos! :)

My son's package was mostly things for younger children and girls and some paint swatches and my son is 12. He was pretty disappointed, as he was super excited for this swap.

If I do this swap again I will definitely take into account age range for sign ups, I'm sorry your son was disappointed, this was a fun swap and I hope some families enjoyed participating

Hello, I have sent my swap out late due to family health situations and the deaths of two close friends and I am so sorry about the delay. I have mailed my box out today. I did not know the ages of the children and read my partner's profile and guessed they were female, (hoping I was right). If it wasn't such a stressful time, I should have actually messaged her. I received my package for my granddaughters and it was great, I am waiting for a "sleep-over" to pull out the surprise! Thanks for coordinating this swap, SAPsMaMa!!

@GrandenOkie I'm so sorry to hear of the stressful time your family has been going through! I hope the fun tinkering items entertain your children :) It's the little things that count! Thank you for trying your best to give a good package to your partner and letting us know your situation, and I will definitely take into account ages next time to make it easier for everyone!
