ATC Made of Metal **Revised ☺**

Round 1, March 2013.

This is a chance to work with METAL! (Guitar solo.) Actually, it is really easy to work with metal using metal repair tape. Feel free to add other metal components to a metal repair tape base.

You will send out 1 ATC to 1 person. The ATC must be a standard size of 2.5" x 3.5".

Have are steps and tips. I started off with ideas from Bernie Berlin:

â–º Paper the back side so it looks finished. Please sign and date your work.

â–º Include your screen name, the name of the swap and the round number in the envelope when you mail it.

â–º I will angel any flakes after you give them a 1 rating. Please communicate first as a card may be lost in the mail.

â–º Please message me with any problems with partners or any technical problems.

This is really fun. You can put metal tape accents on many art objects. A small roll cost me $5. I'm moving into some metal inchies and twinchies now.

Update 3/5/2013: If you want to use aluminum foil or another workable metal, please do! The heavier / thicker aluminum foil comes out better. ☺ The metal tape is really nice since it is sticky on the back, you can peel away the paper and stick it on a core. (I use cut blanks from cereal boxes.) Maybe use E6000 or other strong multipurpose glue to make a piece of foil or metal sheeting stay on its card.

Kimberly Butts (work shown above) wrote an article on metal ATCs in Art Trader Magazine which you can read online for free here in Issue #8.

She advised me:

"I buy 38 gauge tooling foil from Dick Blick. It's the cheaper aluminum (two toned) foil that comes in a roll 12" X 25 feet for about $21. This particular product is always silver on one side and either gold, copper or brass toned on the other side.

If you want other colors you can find them at Ten Seconds Studio online. They have teal, mocha, etc. and I think they come in 12 inch square sheets. They are more expensive per square foot that the one from Blick of course."
