Description:

Since challenge #1 was so much fun, I bring you challenge #2! :)

For this swap, you will create a piece of mail art for your partner where you have included the following bits and pieces.

-something with wings (bird, plane, butterfly, insect, fairy, etc)

-a stencilled image or design (stencil may be store bought or homemade)

-a foreign language

-something from a piece of junk mail

-the colour red

-a map or piece of a map

-a label (from clothes or a bottle for instance)

-a piece of authentic vintage ephemera (see below)

-a button

This mail art will be in the form of an envelope or postcard. You may use any medium for each component of the mail art. You may draw or paint the whole piece or just one part and use different mediums for the rest. Each component of the piece must be separate. In other words, a red button may be either the red component or the button component but not both. Your completed artwork may contain additional components to those listed above but must contain AT LEAST the 9 listed above. Stickers are allowed but only in moderation.

If there is enough interest, I will make this a regular challenge changing the requirements slightly for each swap.

Have fun!! Any questions, feel free to ask!

Newbies are welcome but please search google for an idea as to what mail art should look like if your not sure and don't be afraid to ask questions! :)

Vintage ephemera may include such items as old postage stamps, cut outs from old magazines or books, old labels, old packaging, pieces or cut outs from old cards, etc. Must be authentic vintage ephemera. No printed pieces from the internet.

This sounds like a very creative endeavor and also VERY exciting, but I am leery of trying to attach an actual button! Would a flat image of a button be acceptable or are we talking about a real 3-5 button? :o)

I was wondering the same thing as kindledwhimsy-would it be okay to draw a button?

Oh, wait...I just (slowly) re-read the requirements-it states above that "You may use any medium for each component of the mail art. You may draw or paint the whole piece or just one part and use different mediums for the rest." So...I think I just answered my own question-lol : )

sorry, I never looked here to see questions.. whoops.. Yes you may use a drawn button, an actual button, (yes they do make it through the mail, I just received one with a button it last week completely unharmed) .. or any kind of button you wish. Keep in mind that there are different "kinds" of buttons as well.. such as a "push here" type of button.. ;)

also, since I plan on making these challenges a regular thing, if anyone has any ideas, themes, or individual components they would like to suggest, feel free! :)
