Description:

I have had so much fun with the magic yarn ball swaps, but i have discovered i rarely use yarn, no matter how much i enjoy the swaps...so i got to thinking, and thinking sometimes leads to an idea with me....:) i have not, in my 6 months on swap-bot, seen this one done.
so for those of you that use more fabric then yarn here goes: you will take pieces of fabric in your partners favorite color and/or prints, ranging in size from charm size (5X5inches) to fat quarter size, with the idea being the smaller pieces will be on the "inside" of the ball wrapping goodies, working your way out with the larger pieces, just like a yarn ball, wrapping profile goodies within the layers for your partner to unwrap and enjoy!!! the entire value of goodies and fabric should be no less than 20 bucks! the ball must be tied with a pretty ribbon to hold it all together, and for hearts you can include a note, tea, candy, etc to make it an Experience!!

now for the hard and fast rules: swappers with a 4.8 and NO NO-SENDS will be accepted!! no newbies please. this is US and CANADA only folks! these can be expensive to mail, even though i would love having our foreign swappers included, if this one generates enough interest, i may host an international later. please list below in comments YOUR TOP FIVE COLORS AND/OR PRINTS CHOICES FOR FABRICS FOR YOUR PARTNER TO CHOOSE FROM!!!!!!!! i want this to be a fun, fabulous swap for everyone!!! flakers will be shot!!! just kidding, but you will not be allowed in any of my swaps again and i will blacklist you!
any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me

This is such a great idea! I only know very basic knitting (but I'd like to learn to crochet), so I don't use yarn much either. Unfortunately, I can't really afford to join now. I'm looking for a second job...eek. :/ I hope you (or someone else) will host another in the future! :)

Favorites and hoped-fors: I'm making a B&W quilt, I especially need prints with some black on white. I have quite a few white on black, more is welcome but not needed. Please no cutsie animals or cartoony prints. I'm especially collecting geometrics meaning anything from dots to squiggles to stripes to sqaures, etc. Colors: anything, really, I'm a little low on purples and really bright reds. marking pencils are always welcome, pins both straight and safety, clips for holding pieces together, you get the idea. Thanks -- this sounds like a fun idea I haven't seen done with fabric before.

Yay! This is an awesome idea, I can't wait to build one for my partner and see what I get!

-Pink -Small floral prints -Vintage/retro -Bright colours -Anything odd, like pirates, fruit, tie-dye, etc. Anything weird is good!

Any kind of fabric works, too, from quilting cotton to flannel to corduroy to felt to satin... I'll find a use for it! Can I ask for no cartoon characters and only a few neutrals? I have little use for them. Oh, and any kind of solid colours would be most welcome. Yay!

Adrienne 02/21/2008 #

oh yeah, i guess if your partner has a fabric preference that could be taken into consideration!!! i LOVE regular old cheap felt sheets the most!!! like i said earlier, i want this to be an Experience to open and unravel!!! oh im so excited!!!

Adrienne 02/21/2008 #

the last yarn ball i did, my partner was pleased because i included tea for her to drink and lollipops for her to chow down on while she unwrapped. it was like a whole ceremony!

Ok, I'm in:D I can always use more fabric. Can't tell my kids, they'll think I went off the deep end for sure lol My 5 are; anything Halloween, especially black cats, I know strange at this time of year. kitchen type prints, especially in blues and gold. greens, all shades novelty prints are good. Other than this, I would be happy with anything actually. If it makes my partner smile, go for it. Thanks for this great idea.:D

I'm really sorry I had to drop from this swap! :( It sounds like so much fun, but I've got so much going on right now and not enough money. Booo to being poor! Please host this again, though, I'd love to join next time.

Adrienne 03/ 3/2008 #

im glad you guys are excited!!!! im really sorry you had to drop heatherlayne :( i will host again if this goes well

bobilani 03/ 5/2008 #

Adrienne, Oh, I hate to do this, but I have to drop from this swap. I'm so bummed about it. This month is going to be tighter financially than I originally thought and I can't afford to spend the $20+ on it. I'm so sorry! If you decide to host it again a few months down the line, I will join then. On a happier note, I have you as a partner for the Chinese Red Envie swap so you'll be seeing me in your mailbox soon! :)

Great swap idea, but too rich for my bank too!

NanaDeb 03/ 9/2008 #

Things are getting crazy with all this snow that was dumped on us this weekend. So unfortunately I'll have to dropped too. I can't get out of my house to buy profile goodies for this. sorry. Maybe next time.
