Description:

swap graphic is a simple wrap doll depicting Sekhmet! By the talented Griselda

For this swap, you will send one profile based goddess art doll to your partner. Keep it small, 2'-5", to keep postage down.

This is an art doll. For an art doll, the only rule is that it is not meant to be played with. Other than that, it can be any medium, any style, anything you can imagine. It can be definitely human, vaguely human, animal-like, traditional goddess-like.... it is whatever inspires you. Take a look at your partner's profile for an idea of what would thrill them.

No paper dolls for this swap, please.

If you need inspiration, patterns, tutorials, please comment or message me, as I have quite a bit to share. I also have Rhonda Kivett's goddess and bird goddess templates that I can email to anyone.

@BigHillGoddess I have a question. I made a little cloth doll, she is suppose to be the Hawaiian Goddess Laka, (she came out really funny looking). I sawed her by hand (she's stuffed) and is about 4.5 to 5 inches tall. I don't care about the postage, would she qualify for this swap? Mind you, I suck at making dolls, but she is growing on me. Let me know.

@Magicspirit51 Sounds like I would love her. Anything handmade with love is special in my books.

You wouldn't say that @Gofeen if you saw her, but thank you for the encouragement. I wouldn't want to join this swap, have my partner hate the doll, or mark me down on some technicality. I don't believe anyone in the Goddess Corner would do this, but it worries me regardless.

@Magicspirit51 - I'll do a private swap with you for her if you want. Promise not to mark you down on any technicality. ;>)

That would be fabulous @Gofeen I'll let you set it up. She is already done, so she is ready to go anytime. Rose

Brilliant! I'll do it now.

Well, I am glad you two hammered that out, but to answer the question, yes, that would be fine for this swap and I hope you post her to your Flickr. And sorry I didn't see your question sooner :)

I came back to answer that discussion again, as it was worrying me.

This swap is for beginners also so there shall not be rating down on technicalities. The requirements are art doll, 2-5", no paper dolls, and inspired by partner's profile. Interpretation is up to sener-it can be an actual goddess(Laka, Artemis, or Gaia type) or it can be a fun translation of an interest (Goddess of ATCs, kitchen goddess, etc)

If more people join, you may receive someone's first effort and it should be treasured as such.

Art dolls are very loosely defined as an original work of 3D art in a doll form used for artistic expression–an emotion, an intent,a political statement, or thoughts. Reasons for creating art dolls are varied and can’t be pinned down or limited.

They can be very realistic or abstract with barely anything recognizable on them. They can be human, humanoid, anthropomorphic, alien, fantasy, sci-fi, or just about anything in between. This is what makes them interesting!

Art dolls can be made of any medium or a mix of medias, including paper. The only hard and fast rule for an art doll is that it is not meant to be played with. They are not toys.
