Description:

NOTICE: I GOOFED! This is supposed to be a Regional Swap. However, as there have been several requests for an international version, I've made one that will take place at the same time so I'm not leaving anyone out. I apologize very much for the short notice, and anyone interested in taking part in the international version will be welcome.

If you have taken part in any of the previous rounds of this swap you should have received a journal from your partner that you can add a few recipes to and send on.

However, if this is your first round you will purchase or otherwise obtain a Composition book, and decorate it or cover it if you like. The reason I chose this is because they have nice big pages to write on, and if all the journals are the same the shipping costs will be similar for everyone. Plus there is so much you can do with them as far as altering or decorating if you chose.

On the first page write your name and the swap name and in the back write your address and a note to return the journal home to you when it is full. This will be a monthly swap. What you will do is find a recipe, anything at all, from something you make all the time to something you would love to try. Whatever you can think of. Write one recipe in the book with your name and swap name. Include a short little letter to your partner saying why you chose that recipe on a separate sheet of paper, and then mail off to your partner. Next month in a separate swap you will take that journal you received and write a recipe and pass it on. We will keep going as long as there is interest. Please only put in realistic and usable recipes, the point is for people to find cool new recipes to try out.

The fine print: Anyone is welcome to join who has a well filled out profile, newbies included with at least 5 mailed swaps completed. If you have 1's or 3's please make sure that they are explained somewhere in your profile or PM me and explain. Please don't flake, this is someone else's recipe book you've got, after all.

When you get your partner's book, send them a PM to let them know who has it. It's a courtesy thing and it's fun to know where your book is in its travels.

You will have until March 7th to sign up (I added a few extra days to help me get this whole mess I've created sorted out), and then a few weeks to send. If there are any questions, please ask.

Pyxidragon 02/ 3/2012 #

Glad to see you here. :-)

yomeow 02/16/2012 #

LOVE this swap. I haven't heard from anyone... hope my book is safely out there somewhere. I can't wait to see all the great recipes when it comes home to me. Thanks for hosting, Pyxi!

maciemcgowan 02/21/2012 #

just wondering if anyone has, or has seen my book lately?? :)

JessyLammers 02/22/2012 #

My browser isn't allowing me to use the contact button to send a pm. I have participated in Swaps before, though never through Swapbot. I therefore have no ratings, but this is the only swap that really catches my interest right now...Please let me know if I could possibly participate! Thank you,

Pyxidragon 02/22/2012 #

Hi Jessy...I'm afraid I can't let you take part in this particular swap without 5 under your belt. I did PM you, however, to set something else up and start getting ratings for you.

art3osb 02/25/2012 #

A good idea would be for the partner to buy a confirmation number and message the number to you that way you can keep track of where your book is.

I'm watching.

Engelenvrouwtje 02/26/2012 #

O this is realy a wonderfull swap where I would like to take part of. But I'v got some questions. 1. What kind of journal must it be? Weight, dimensions? 2. Do I have to decorate my journal before sending? 3. As I live in Belgium I'v got a lot of receipts but it's in grams and kilo's. How do I mention them in pounds etc? ¨Please can you clear this out? Many thanks

ErikaG 02/28/2012 #

Whew! If this hadn't have made the top 15 list I likely would have forgotten to sign up. I have Linda Kennedy's book. She didn't put in her nickname so I can't tell ya what it is...

Pyxidragon 03/ 1/2012 #

Engel, would you please sign up for the international version at http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/114284?

To answer your question...let's see...The journal should be like the one at the addy here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e5/Compositionbook.jpg/150px-Compositionbook.jpg

It's a book with stiff back, chosen because it helps keep them from getting too damaged in the mail. They are roughly...21.59x27.94cm and about 0.37kg before decorating.

You don't have to decorate them if you don't wish.

Hope that helps!

Can you specify certain recipe restrictions in your own recipe book? Or is it to be completely up to the person that has your book?

rachelcdoyle 03/ 6/2012 #

I hope so, I put some restrictions on mine. I didn't go nuts making it impossible for someone to send me a tried and true recipe but I did request no seafood.

loves2swap 03/ 7/2012 #

I have already started on mine, great idea

whytewillow 03/ 7/2012 #

I have a rather goofy question, once we purchase the comp. book, decorate it, then we put one of our recipes in our own book before we mail it? I'm a tad confused. Please help...need aid...

Thanks a lot Whytewillow

rachelcdoyle 03/ 8/2012 #

Good question @whytewillow it seems kind of silly to put your own recipe in your own book. Anyway, let me know too! :)

whytewillow 03/ 8/2012 #

OR...maybe we write a seperate recipe (loose recipe card or sheet) and mail it off with our book, and a note to our partner stating why we chose the recipe for them, etc. etc.? Still confused...

rachelcdoyle 03/ 8/2012 #

That's what I had planned on doing.

sugarface25 03/ 9/2012 #

when are we going to get our partners

AmericanHeiress 03/ 9/2012 #

Are we swapping or what? how come we don't have partners? xoxo

whytewillow 03/ 9/2012 #

No partners yet...whatzup? Anyone know??? Guess, I'll go ahead and write a seperate recipe like I thought...I'm with you rachelcdoyle.

rachelcdoyle 03/ 9/2012 #

Grrrrrr... I don't wanna drop, I made an adorable book! Can you assign soon :)

AmericanHeiress 03/ 9/2012 #

I know Rachel and two swappers have already left. I wanna get my swap on! I made the cutest journal ever. I'm quite proud being this is my first recipe journal swap and all! xoxo

whytewillow 03/10/2012 #
