Description:

The new photo is Crafty Crab's Adorable little critter in it's matchbox home!!

Thanks for checking out this fun & easy lil' swap...

For this swap we’ll be sending a little critter with it’s very own adoption certificate in a little matchbox to our lucky partner for them to adopt!

THE INFO…

  1. Everyone makes and sends just one critter/home/certificate to one partner!

  2. The critter should be little, made of plastic, no larger than 2 inches, and shouldn't cost more than $2. However, due to requests, you're also welcome to make your own critter out of polymer clay if you'd like.

  3. Make the little critter a home from a small matchbox (32ct) for it to travel/live in.

  4. Now, for the fun part... You get to name the little critter & make it a personalized adoption certificate (approx 3x5 inches) to include: It's Name, Birth Date, Gender & Favorite Things.

Example critter is a plastic goldfish...

Name: Josef William, Jr.

Birthday: August 12, 1979

Gender: Male

Favorites: Bubble Gum, Sky Diving & Playing Wii

Bonus... Draw a picture of the little guy on the certificate or take a little photo and glue it on. I would recommend hearts if you can tell extra effort was made, if other goodies were included, or if the matchbox house is especially nice.

OPEN TO NEWBIES AND INTERNATIONAL SWAPPERS *Shipping will be cheap - and then you have the possibility of adopting a critter from overseas!!

CRITTER ADOPTION SWAP GUIDELINES:

1} Newbies - you have to fill out your profile - ask me if you need to know how.

2} If you're not a newbie, you'll need at least a 4.0.

3} You CAN'T request a certain animal - it's a surprise and your lovely partner gets to decide what you get to adopt! :O)

Questions? Just PM me.

I know my photo doesn't include the matchbox, but I'll add one soon! :O)

I'll play. This sounds like a fun swap. Although I wish it could be a handmade critter also.

I know, I was considering it... I just didn't want to limit it to just talented handmade people who can make awesome little critters... I really like the idea though!

If this goes well, a follow-up little handmade critter swap in the 250 ct. boxes would be pretty fun!!

Thanks for joining!

OH this is totally awesome, I'm in..

Hi all - I've had a few questions about handmade and one person brought up the point that polymer clay is plastic... so what I would say is if you want to make it yourself, feel free to do so, but don't be dissapointed when/if you get a plastic store-bought critter in return.

So, there's no pressure at all to make it by hand but you're welcome to make it from clay if you'd like.

Thanks all for joining the swap! Can't wait to start swappin'! ~AF

That's good to hear, I've searched my entire town and cannot find anything plastic that will fit in the matchbox...

Sorry to hear you didn't have any luck finding a critter - We have several options to choose from at a local book store... they have them in containers by the cash register. If it came down to it and someone REALLY wanted to participate but couldn't find and animal/critter/insect/etc I could mail them one of mine, just the animal, that they could use for the swap. Just another option I'll make available for those who really need it!

I haven't joined this swap yet, I'm waiting until closer to the deadline to see if I will have some I'm working on now finished, but I wanted to give some suggestions to those who are having a hard time finding small animals; I have seen animals that would fit the bill in bubblegum machines (some are animal specific, so you won't have to test your luck), as well as most Party supply stores, dollar stores, and Walmart will sell bags of little plastic animal figurines for about a dollar (and you'll get several to choose form). Hope that's helpful to someone :)

Thanks for the tips TeaNi - I hope you can join when your other swaps are finished... I know the feeling! :O)

And thanks again to all who've joined! :O)

The photos I've seen on flickr have been amazing!! And so far it looks like just one person hasn't sent theirs - and they've emptied their profile too - so whoever they were supposed to send to please let me know and I'll angel it for you! Can't wait to see more photos!

I'll start another one of these for June/July. Thanks for all the requests! :O)
