Description: | |
March 8, 2008 will be the 97th observation of International Women's Day; let's commemorate the occasion in a swap-bot way! It's common in some countries to give yellow flowers on International Women's Day, so I propose that we use yellow flowers as the theme of the swap. You will have 3 partners and you will send each partner 1 item of your choosing which in some way contains an image of or otherwise represents a yellow flower. (Due to international postage regulations, please do not send real yellow flowers in any form.) The item you send to each partner is completely up to you; it's also up to you whether it's home-made or store-bought. I'd like this swap to celebrate the different ways in which we choose to express ourselves and share our talents with others, so anything that you like to do is fair game as long as the yellow flower theme is somehow present. Some possibilities include: a postcard or card featuring a yellow flower, a yellow-flower themed matchbox, an embroidered yellow flower, a painted yellow flower, a quilt square using fabric with yellow flowers on it, a printing on yellow paper of a hand-carved rubber stamp of a flower, a needlebook decorated with yellow flowers, an ATC featuring a yellow flower, a themed zine with a yellow flower on the front, some yellow flower inchies, a notebook with yellow flowers on the cover, a photograph you took of a yellow flower, a short story in which yellow flowers play a prominent role, a poem about a yellow flower, a yellow flower made out of felt, origami yellow flowers, etc., etc., etc.! Because what you decide to send will depend on your own preferences for art, craft, and swapping, you can start on this swap right away: you do not need to wait until you receive your partners' names to begin making your swap, and you do not need to cater to your partners' particular preferences. This means that as recipients we should honor the spirit of self-expression and sharing in which the swap was sent. I hope you will join me in sending yellow flowers around the world! For more information about International Women's Day, please see: http://www.internationalwomensday.com/ Other details: 1) I've made the send deadline 2 weeks before March 8, in the hope that everyone will have received their swap by International Women's Day. 2) In the spirit of inclusivity, any swapper is eligible to join. I know that this may entail some risk, but I promise to angel anyone who is flaked on and requests to be angeled. 3) This is an international swap! |
