[Usa Only Version]

This swap was originally hosted by lettergirl. She told me I could host it and since I absolutely love surprise balls I took her up on her offer.

This is the most fun thing to make, ever! These are balls made out of layer upon layer of crepe paper, with surprise objects tucked inside throughout the layers!

For the tutorial at notmartha click HERE. Or to read the tutorial and feature at Miseducated (which features a surprise ball received in the last swap) click HERE.

FYI: On the tutorial, it says to use sheets of crepe paper that you cut yourself. I have successfully used the roll kind that you buy at the dollar store with no trouble at all.

Ideas for things to include: candy, small toys, jewelry, stickers, memo pads, erasers, rubber stamps, ink pads, glitter, craft supplies, tea, keychains, beads, charms, small tubes of glitter glue, etc.

Try to include 10-20 small gifts inside.

Take a look at your partner's profile for ideas about what to include in their ball!

If you have any questions post them here or message me. I check often.

I would like this to be a swap for people who have sent out at least 15 type 3 swaps. No recent ones will be allowed.

This is like "Magic Ball" (you use yarn instead of crepe paper & as your partner crochets the little surprises pop out!)

Any idea on what postage would be to send? Both US and international?

amberrenee 11/12/2011 #

Magic balls sound fun, too! I hope someone makes a swap for them so I can make one~

I received a large surprise ball in a box in the mail from the US (I also live in the US) marked about 7.90usd shipping.

Also I'm going to post photos of the one I made and the one I received last time very soon!

It's so much fun! I had to host this because it's my favorite swap I've ever participated in! The tutorial explains a lot. <3

Hello! I just took photos of the one I made and the one I received and posted them on my blog for you to see! http://www.miseducated.net/?p=12607

Oh yes... I was @amberrenee s partner. It did end up rather large, haha... once I started making it, it was hard to stop! I may try to do the next one a little smaller so I won't end up paying so much shipping again. I had a lot of fun making this and I'm thinking about making them for my family too for christmas gifts, with little stocking stuffers inside and red/green crepe paper.

Great post @amberrenee and love the photos!!

Thanks so much, charophyta!!!! You really made my day! This time I used tons of paper and my ball ended up large, too! I love your idea for the holidays. I'm thinking of making one for my nephew, too. :)

Hehe I bought the crepe paper at Dollar tree, I grabbed a pack of 2 purple rolls and a pack of 2 green rolls... and I used ALL 4 of the rolls to make your ball! (These were smaller rolls though, I have seen bigger rolls like at party city.)

I've done this before with easter eggs. It is a lot of fun because as you unroll it, you have all kinds of small surprises coming out.

I have been watching and hoping but don't have enough money right now to mail internationally... I hope you make another one though!
