SWAP BEGINS – JANUARY 1st ** Three M's Swap - A Month of My Memorabilia Well, since we all enjoyed the last one so much, I thought I’d start the year off with another 3M Journal, as we’ve come to know it. The idea of this swap is to share pieces of your life with someone else . . . and to experience someone else’s in return on a day-to-day basis for an entire month. 1) You will need a Journal - No smaller then a 5" x 7" and it must have enough pages in it to cover the 31 Days of January and for you to write an introduction about yourself on the front page(s). Composition Notebooks make great Journals for this type of swap ! Note: The cover of the Journal must be altered in some manner. 2) On the first page(s) you will tell your partner a bit about yourself. Your age, where you live, your interests, hobbies, family, etc. 3) You will then, date the rest of the pages from January 1st through January 31st anyway you’d like. You will then attach an article of memorabilia to EACH page for that day. For the purpose of this journal, memorabilia is a keepsake of an event or a piece of ephemera from a day in your life. You’ll collect these items each day for a month and sharing them with our assigned partner along with a description of how we came across the item, or why you chose that item for the day. It can be as simple as an appointment card from an appointment you had on that particular day, and you can use MORE than one item. Other ideas, Pictures, receipts, menus, ticket stubs, copies of items, flyers, business cards, whatever you want to share. But remember to journal somewhere on that page for the day even if its just ONE word for the day. 4) For each day, after you’ve attached your memorabilia, be sure to cover that page anyway you’d like, don’t just attach a receipt from the grocery store, write “Went shopping,†on the page and consider it done, be creative, the entire page should be used up. Note: Now I know in my last rules I stated, “If you go to the grocery store 100 times during that month, don’t include every single receipt, vary what you attach for each day.†Well I broke that rule and did. BUT that being said.. I did include other things.. I actually found that I spent/ and went grocery shopping WAY too much ! You have to be creative to make this many receipts work ! SWAP ENDS: January 31st - you have until February 6th to mail your Journal Out. Participants are expected to mail on time ! This is a MONTH long swap, and a very hard Journal to keep up with – so if you join please be committed on getting through the entire month of January. |
